Jan Fischer is contemporary Czech timber and glass master. His object of interest are mainly wooden sculptures inspired by natural shapes, which he turns to glass scuptures when the wooden ones are done. He creates his unconventional creations in workshop of Crystal Caviar company in Šluknov in Northern Bohemia, which is known as glass region.

Inspiration to his creations became from nature. His products look like leafs, wooden shields or parts of animal bodies. He firstly create wooden sculpture from Kazachstan wallnut with a rich structure and with many regular notches. Then he create the twin of this sculpture from glass.

Who said that sculptures has to stand only by its own in space? Why not to hang them on the wall? Jan Fisher creates amazing wooden classical sculptures with stands and pedestals. But he also makes beautiful wall pieces. Some of them look like his original sculptures, some look completely different. They often resemble water level with small waves, other look like tree bark or grass meadow. Apart from this beauty the wall pieces by Jan Fisher can give feelings of warm and cosiness to any room.

His passion for wood and other noble materials started at secondary school. Jan is actually a trained carpenter. So he was accustomed to work with wood, create furnitures and accesories into houses, and renovate them. He perfectly knows the craft and he started to develop his artistic skills when he began to work in Šluknov. He got a chance to make beautiful pieces of art, not only house equipment. His personal style is permanently connected with nature.

After work with wood as a material for artistic objects, Jan discovered another noble material - glass. He learnt everything about glass from the best of the best Czech glass artist Jan Frydrych and Vlastimil Beránek. However, he took a lot from those amazing teachers, he constantly continues to try different possibilities of work with glass. His glass sculptures are mould melted pieces with distinctive colours. They are strikingly similar to his wooden sculptures, but with their own deep magic.
